Election and Voting InformationThe City Clerk's Office conducts local, state and federal elections. Individuals wishing to register to vote may do so by coming to the Clerk's Office during normal business hours. To register by mail, complete this form and return it to the Clerk's office. You must vote in person the first time after registering by mail. The exception to this law is if you are over 60 years of age. If so, you may apply for an absentee ballot by contacting our office or complete this form and return it to the Clerk's office.. To be eligible to vote in any upcoming election, you must register at least thirty days prior to the election date.
Business Licenses
All business licenses are issued by the City Clerk's Office. It is advisable to contact the office regarding licensing information as soon as possible prior to opening a Dearborn Heights business. Please click here for new business license application.
Residential and Commercial Alarms
Sections 20-38 of the City of Dearborn Heights Code of Ordinances requires the registration of all alarm systems. The ordinance specifies:
"Within 14 days of installation of an alarm system, an alarm user shall register the alarm user's alarm system with the City Clerk's office and shall also pay a registration fee, if any, in an amount to be determined from time to time by City Council resolution for each type of alarm control panel in use. If the City Council has not established a registration fee by resolution, then no such fee shall be required.
And:
"Limitations on prosecution for failure to register. For the first six months after this ordinance goes into effect, the City shall not prosecute any alarm user who fails to register the alarm user's alarm system. Further, after the first six months after this ordinance goes into effect, the City shall issue a warning notice/notice of violation before issuing a municipal civil infraction to any alarm user for failing to register an alarm system.
And:
An alarm user shall be responsible for a Class D municipal civil infraction if three or more false alarms are reported to the City within a twelve-month period based on the operation of the alarm user's alarm system at a particular location.

Pet Licenses
All dogs and cats must be licensed. Fees are $7.00 annually for all non-neutered animals and $5.00 annually for neutered animals. If your dog or cat is not licensed, you risk having your pet picked up by the Animal Control Division and facing a fine and/or other charges. Your pet must have an up to date rabies vaccination. You may license by mail by printing and filling out the application.
Please furnish a copy of rabies vaccination and enclose a check made payable to "City of Dearborn Heights." Your license and animal tag will be mailed to you.
