About the Board of Trustees

Background Information
One of a Board of Trustee's primary responsibilities is to uphold the fiduciary duty to protect all of the organization's assets and funds in trust. The overarching fiduciary duty includes the duties of care, always acting in the best interests of the fund's beneficiaries.

While fulfilling its fiduciary duty, the board manages its affairs and makes decisions to protect the fund. Such decisions may include the review and approval of pension benefit disbursements, the investment of assets, the choice of investment manager, and the pursuit of specific investment options.

At the City of Dearborn Heights, appointed/elected members of the Pension Board also serve on the Healthcare Benefit Trust Board.
