The City of Dearborn Heights  civil service process:
Step 1: Open City positions may be posted in the following locations. 
Step 2: Applicants must submit an application by downloading here or by visiting the Human Resources office at City Hall. Applications can be submitted in person or by sending to humanresources@ci.dearborn-heights.mi.us.
Step 3: Applications are reviewed, and those who meet minimum requirements will receive information regarding testing and interviewing. 
Step 4: Civil Service written exam will be administered by Dearborn Heights and requires a passing score of 70% or higher.
Step 5: Upon completion of testing, interviews will be scheduled and held. Oral interviews require a score of 70% or higher. 
Step 6: Upon completion of the testing and interviews, background and drug screens will be completed by the applicants. 
Step 7: All passing applicants are placed on the civil service list for 2 years and may be called upon during this time as further positions open up.
